Just 100m down the road from the Oceans Boundary project, in 2018 Hancock Homes was commissioned to undertake the full gut and renovation of 3 individual two bed apartments on the ocean front in Clovelly. Three different clients, three different apartments and different styles of design, but each with the common goal of capitalising on the amazing ocean front views from each. Increasing the internal floor space of each unit by part enclosing the huge wrap around balconies and creating new kitchens and study areas where once was dead space and removing structural walls in order to open up the units to the ocean vista was the brief. Faced with compliance constraints surrounding working within the foreshore area and existing building footprints, heights and appearance, Hancock Homes was able to provide design direction and facilitation with council certifiers and strata governance to ensure the visions of the clients were not compromised and the integrity of the build outshone what was hoped for.
Floor to ceiling wrap around glass doors thermally and acoustic rated to withstand the high exposure to elements given the immediacy of the oceanfront opened up these apartments to take full advantage of the uninterrupted 270 degree Ocean vistas from Bondi in the north, across wedding cake island and down to Malabar in the south.
