When you are working on an architects own home and vision, you know you have to go beyond their expectations, and this is something Hancock Homes continues to do on a regular basis.
Tasked with bringing this owner / architects vision of converting two old dark and dingy 1 bed apartments in to a luxury 3 story dual occupancy in this famous beachside suburb was a challenge Hancock Homes relished. Aside from the myriad of Building Code and Australian Standard changes that now became applicable to this new classification of dwelling under the Home Building Act, the challenge lay in utilising the existing floor space in order to add an extra bedroom and bathroom to each dwelling.
Juliet glass balconies at the front incorporating fire rated glass to satisfy building legislation and an alfresco terrace at the rear increased natural lighting and outdoor space and breathed the easy vibe sunshine and beach lifestyle into these once dark apartments. Creating an additional storey to Dwelling 2 and extending into the roof space with a master office room complete with balcony not only capitalised on ocean views but gave the upper dwelling the feeling and space of a semi-detached house.
